There are those performances that send a chill up the spine…  This battle contains such a performance.  The Proving Grounds has always been the last step for an up and coming emcee as far as making it on URL goes.  There is no better place to have your best performance ever, as it will gain you much respect from the URL arena.  Brizz Rawsteen took full advantage of this opportunity and created a classic against ShowOff.

We just saw ShowOff face off against Dre Dennis and his performance was top notch, which had Oplex and I convinced he would certainly be a threat in the battle rap world.  We talked about this on last weeks show in depth.  Truth be told ShowOff didn’t have a bad performance in this battle.  He was simply outdone.  Each round he was edged out by Brizz’s torrential onslaught of bars.  The 2nd round choke was unfortunate.  Blu Ray Blade did say something right before the choke, so some may think he was the cause of it.  I don’t take that line of thought.  At no point in the battle should the gladiator take the time to respond to anything or anyone in the crowd.  They should maintain focus always and be dedicated to defeating of their opponent.  Had ShowOff ignored Blade, perhaps we wouldn’t have witnessed a choke.

Brizz Rawsteen had perhaps the performance of his career, almost catching a body in the process.  Even though he missed body-bagging his opponent he was an integral part of creating a Certified Classic in this bout.  What makes it so impressive is that even with ShowOff’s choke he was still able to deliver a 2nd round so strong, as to be a classic in it’s own right.  This is what it takes to become a prime-time top tier emcee in this battle rap culture.  Up and coming emcees should take a lesson away from this battle and try to emulate the obvious passion and complete drive that it takes to deliver a performance in the way Brizz did.  But more than the performance he had excellent bars to go with it.  Intricate placement of Money-Ball bars among schemes, word-play and name flips is what makes it such a treat to watch.

3-0 win for Brizz Rawsteen, clearly.

  1. Sadly, I don’t remember my first night home with my first – perhaps it was unremarkable in a good way. But I hope that it will be the same with the second. When I look at how easy it’s been with my first, I sometimes fool myself into thinking it will be the same again, except that’s not always true, is it?

Everyone who comments is a stranger then huh.P.S: Your A for "Are", M for "Moron" and H for "Hahahaha" should have been capitalised. Just saying

  5. Are you reading Great Expectations for the first time? I have yet to finish watching the Masterpiece adaptation, and it makes me want to re-read the book!It is hard to define a “classic” because it is so many things all at once, but I read somewhere that, in general, if a book is continually read for over a 100 years — it is considered a classic (of course this depends on many other factors, as well). Great post!
